In 2009 we set up a Study Area on part of the Kulze Preserve.  This was an experiment to see what would grow if the Phragmites was kept out as much as possible.  No pesticide was used.  Tia Sidey and Brenda Ashooh weed-whacked or hand cut the Phrag and watched as the upland salt marsh re-emerged. The Spartina and Cord Grass have slowly started moving up the bank replacing the Phrag that had pushed them out. The original 3 High Tide Bushes have a good hundred new little saplings to keep them company. The Fiddler Crabs have set up camp and have space and sunshine again.  We will continue the project next year.
